Biographical Notes:

"Private Lionel Keith Rae of the 2nd Canterbury Regiment, who died in the Nelson Hospital alter a short illness was given a military funeral this afternoon. There was an escort party ot 16 men and the 15th Independent Company provided a bearer party of six men. Sergt. H. Day was in charge of the escort and Lieut. S. C. Davis represented the Army. After the service at Shone’s mortuary chapel. Collingwood street, the party proceeded at a slow march down Colingwood street, unaccompanied by a band. At the graveside, the escort preeded the coffin to the graveside from the road. Major Wilkes, of the Salvation Army officiated at the chapel and the graveside."
