Biographical Notes:

BDM Online has Bertie Hallgarth, mother Annie, father NR. Annie Elizabeth Halgarth married Robert Edwin Workman in 1899. There is a note on his service record from the NZ Police stating that Constable J Butler had interviewed (30/01/1924) Mr T A Nutt who said that "Hallgarth by his will left his medals to his (Mr Nutt's) daugther. ... Mr Nutt also states that Hallgarth was an illegitimate and all his life was neglected by his mother, so much so, that deceased never recognised his mother ...".
