Private Albert Robert Poole, 3113, 59TH Battalion Australian Infantry, who died aged 23 on 25th April 1918 and remembered with honour at Adelaide Cemetery, Villers-Bretonnneux.
Milbrew Janetta Lloyd (born approx 1810 England and died Dunedin NZ 22/04/1889) had married William Henry Radford a musician of Sydney 09/10/1857 (born in London approx 1835 died 23/03/1861 aged 32) and had two children; Emily Janetta Radford 13/10/1857 (died 17/05/1861 aged 3 years ). Alice Milbrew Radford born Melbourne 01/05/1860 (died Dunedin NZ 19/06/1898). Alice married John Poole in 1881. John was a horse trainer and jockey and was killed in a fall at a hurdle race in Timaru in 1894. Children of John and Alice Poole; Alice Poole born 1886, Charles John Poole born 01/08/1889, South Dunedin, NZ, Albert Robert Poole born 25/06/1892, St Kilda, Dunedin, NZ. From a telegram dated 11 May 1918, Malvern Vic (Victoria): "Officially reported 3113 Private A R Poole killed in action 15/04/18 Kindly inform R Corney 48 Glenferrie Road, Malvern Reply Paid Col. Hawker". Robert Corney and his wife Isobel Mary Corney (nee Taggart and known to her family as "Toots" born Dunedin, NZ 25/09/1871 died, Melbourne 01/08 1959) was guardian of Albert Robert Poole as both of his parents had died (1894 and 1898 when Albert was 6). Albert's sister Alice Poole married James McAlister Holmes in 1909. Holmes was born 1880 and educated at Royal University of Ireland. Decorated for gallantry in the Battle of Jutland in 1916 and awarded DSO, Russian Order of St Anne. Albert's brother Charles John Poole married his wife known to family as "Stan".
