Biographical Notes:

3 New Zealand pilots lost their lives when the carrier HMS Avenger was torpedoed by a U-Boat west of the Strait of Gibraltar. Valentine Cowper and  Meliss Latter were stationed aboard, while Alexander Webber was a passenger, returning to HMS Dasher.
