Biographical Notes:

"PTE. A. HINCHCO. Pte. A. Hinchco, reported died of wounds received on March 26th, was the youngest son of Mr and Mrs J. Hinchco, of Hakanoa Street, old and respected residents of Huntly. Although Pte. Hinchco had enlisted about two and a half years ago, having been one of the 14th Reinforcement, he was only about 19 years old when he gave his life for his country. That he was a brave and keen soldier was shown by the fact that late in last year, he was decorated with the Military Medal for bravery on the field. By enlisting so early (at about 17 years of age), he showed that he was a young man of the true English spirit, and shewed an example which might well be copied by others. His parents are recipients of many letters and telegrams of sympathy, some of them from the leaders of the Government. We offer ... to Mr and Mrs Hinchco, our sincerest sympathy in their great loss. We trust they may be able to find some consolation in the fact that their [son has] rendered the greatest service that any man can perform, having give their lives for their friends."
