Biographical Notes:

“THE RICHARDSON BROTHERS. Advice has been received by Mrs M. Richardson, of 345 Armagh Street, Linwood, of the deaths of two of her sons, Private Albert William [Walter] Richardson and Private Alfred Richardson. The former, who was killed in action on August 24 was Mrs Richardson's youngest son, being 23 years of age. He was born in Dunedin. Private Alfred Richardson was 31 years of age and was her eldest son. He was born in Sydney, but came to New Zealand at an early age with his mother and lived in Dunedin for some time. He left New Zealand with the 40th Reinforcement and was one of those who died at sea, having succumbed to the epidemic of influenza which broke out on the transport conveying that reinforcement. His death occurred on September 7, Mrs Richardson has another son returning home invalided.” [Sun (Christchurch), Volume V, Issue 1437, 20 September 1918, Page 3]
