Biographical Notes:

"Official advice has been received by Mrs Mary E. Roycroft, of Roycroft. Street, Waihi, that her younger son, Private Archibald Vivian Roycroft, died on January 25 as the result of injuries accidentally received. He was 24 years of age. Private Roycroft, who was born in Waihi, and who was educated at the Waihi District High School, was a keen footballer and played for the Mataura club. He later worked in Auckland, where he showed distinct promise as a cricketer. He enlisted and sailed with an early reinforcement. Private Roycroft’s father, Mr Archibald J. Roycroft, who was very well-known in Waihi, where he was most popular, died a number of years ago"
