Biographical Notes:

“Sergeant Herbert Jubille Dyke, son of Mrs Dyke, Walter Street, Caversham, Dunedin (killed July 28), enlisted in the North Island and went with the Main Body, previous to which he was a horse trainer. He fought through the Gallipoli campaign and was successful in gaining two promotions in the field. He has two younger brothers at present on active service. Sergeant Dyke was a crack shot and secured second prize at the shooting competition at the Auckland Exhibition.” [Lyttelton Times, Volume CXVII, Issue 17279, 21 September 1916, Page 8]
