Anglo Boer War
NZ WAR GRAVES

Biographical Notes:

Private John Saxon has no grave remaining in Mozambique. When his contingent left Beira to relieve Mafeking, he was hospitalised with Malaria.

Following his death, he was buried in Santa Isabel cemetery. In a letter, in the 1920's to the NZ Government from the British High Commissioner, it was stated that, as his grave had not been paid for within 5 years, he was exhumed and his remains were "cast to the winds"

The only known memorials are this window in St Mary's, Levin and his name on the Ranfurly Memorial, Auckland
