Biographical Notes:

" THE REV. J. R.BURGIN. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, December 2. The death is announced of the Rev. J. R. Burgin, vicar of St. Peter's, Onehunga (formerly vicar of Ashburton). He attended a confirmation service and a choir practice  last evening, and went home apparently in his usual health. At 1 a.m., a doctor had to be summoned, but Mr Burgin died at 3.30 a.m. He served with the Third and Fourth Rifle Brigade in Egypt and France, and was gassed on the Somme."
