Biographical Notes:

John Gordon was a pilot under basic training. His aircraft failed to recover from a spin and crashed at the Momona (Dunedin) landing ground. The Instructor, Jack King, bailed out, but was killed when his parachute did not deploy in time. [ For Your Tomorrow, Errol Martyn. Vol. 2 p.51]
