Biographical Notes:

“Exactly a week after a similar fatality on the same stretch of road, Wireless Operator Keith Israel Blackburn, a member of the R.N.Z.A.F., single, of Kaitangata, received fatal injuries on Christmas Eve on the Kaitaia-Awanui road. He died in the Kaitaia Hospital on Christmas Day. Mr. D. W. Hoey, baker and confectioner, Awanui, was driving a car from Kaitaia. Rain was falling, and Blackburn, who was walking on the same side of the road and in the same direction, was struck by the left headlamp of the car.”
