Biographical Notes:

"MISSING TERRITORIAL - INQUEST OPENED AT HUNTLY : The body of a member of the 7th Medium Battery, New Zealand Artillery, who had been missing from the camp at Claudelands since November 10, was found in the Waikato River at Huntly. He was Gunner Robert Hetherington McCraig, aged 39, a single man. He was last seen on November 10 by his niece, Mrs Barbara Jean Reynolds, of Selkirk Street, Hamilton, where he had spent the evening. Before entering camp at Claudelands a short time ago, Gunner McCaig had been employed as a labourer in the Cambridge district. An inquest was opened at Huntly this morning, and following evidence of identification was adjourned sine die by the coroner, Mr F. Harris."
