Biographical Notes:

Trooper Rupert Calvert was about 23 years of age. Prior to enlisting in the 8th Reinforcement he was employed by Messrs Reath and Co., Christchurch. He was very highly esteemed both by his employers and the staff. Trooper Calvert was a son of Mrs M. A. Hood, and brother of Mr W. J. Calvert, of 21 Baretta Street, Spreydon. He was educated at the Addington School, and was a prominent member of St. Andrew's Church and Bible Class.
