My grandfather, Francis John Rodgers, and Samuel Cecil Rodgers were side by side in the trenches just minutes before a shell came in and killed his brother Samuel Cecil Rodgers. My grandfather had to bury his brother. I have a facsimile of Samuels last letter to his parents, being written in England before departure to the Western Front.
