Extract from an article  on investigations into conditions at Trentham Camp :

“William Colley, principal lightkeeper, Nelson lighthouse, stated that his son Stanley died in the Wellington Hospital on June 11. Witness interviewed Sister Keith at the Berhampore Hospital, asking her what had been done about him. She explained the sudden circumstances of his illness. He asked her if she had any reason for not sending for a doctor, and she replied that she “did not think he was as bad as all that." Colonel Purdy stated that Colley was sent to Wellington Hospital, which was close at hand, because this was a better course than waiting for a doctor to come. He was informed either by Dr Myers or Dr Hartwell that Colley died of acute meningitis. That everything was done for the boy he was quite certain.”
