Biographical Notes:

"The death of Flight-Sergeant S. R. Greer in a flying accident in England on August 7 was deeply regretted in local sporting circles. During 1925-30 he was a member of St. Patrick’s Football Club’s third grade team which won the Anderson Cup and championship. Some years ago the late Flight-Sergt. Greer was a prominent member of the Manawatu Tennis Club and will be remembered by all local cricketers as a more than useful member of the Old Boys and United Clubs. During his Air Force training in England he had the honour of umpiring at Lords in a match between Sussex and Combined Services. His popularity and ability as a cricketer is reflected in the fact that he was both selector and captain of his training centre’s cricket eleven. The sympathy of all sportsmen is extended to his widow, Mrs. Olive Greer, of Wellington, and his two small daughters, also to his parents, Mr and Mrs Gerald R. Greer, of Te Awe Awe Street. Palmerston North, who are old and respected residents of this city."
