Biographical Notes:

"In a collision between a motor-cycle and a gun tractor on a corner during manoeuvres in the Pahiatua district yesterday Lance-Bombardier William Bernard Ayling, aged 20, received injuries from which he died in hospital shortly afterwards. His mother is Mrs G. Ayling, of Napier. Gunner H. S. Graham, aged 21, whose mother, Mrs M. Graham, lives at Palmerston North, suffered a compound fracture of one leg in the same accident and was taken to hospital."
