Cronenbourg French National Cemetery

Location Information: 

Cronenbourg is a western suburb of the town of Strasbourg and is easily reached from Strasbourg station. The Cemetery is about 2 kilometres from the railway station on the road to Saverne.

Historical Information: 

Cronenbourg Cemetery was used during the 1914-1918 War for French and Allied burials (including eight British casualties but mostly Russian and Rumanian soldiers). Further graves were added later from the following cemeteries - CHATENOIS COMMUNAL CEMETERY (Alsace) MOLSHEIM COMMUNAL CEMETERY (Alsace) SCHERWILLER COMMUNAL CEMETERY (Alsace) VILLE COMMUNAL CEMETERY (Alsace) There are now 15, 1914-18 and over 10, 1939-45 war casualties commemorated in this site. A special memorial is erected to one British soldier from the 1914-18 War, whose grave cannot be located.
