Biographical Notes:

Dave Lindsay won the national titles for the 440 yards and 880 yards freestyle each on five occasions between 1927 and 1934. Team member for the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam.
A lieutenant in the 2nd New Zealand Division in World War II, he was killed in the battle for Orsogna in southern Italy on the 12th December 1943. He and seven other members of his platoon were victims of a shell from an Allied 25-pounder that fired short. Buried in Sangro River War Cemetery, Italy.
