Biographical Notes:

"An airman pilot under training, Leading Aircraftman Maurice Sydney Best, of Bombay, Auckland, was killed a few minutes after 11 o'clock this morning, when he was'struck by an aircraft approaching the aerodrome at the R.N.Z.A.F. Station, New Plymouth. Best and another airman pilot were walking along the boundary of the aerodrome when the aircraft came in at a low altitude. Best was apparently struck by a wheel of the plane and was killed instantly. The machine was slightly damaged, but no one else was injured. A Court of Inquiry will be held. His next-of-kin is Mrs. A. Best,Bombay, Auckland."
