Biographical Notes:

Thomas served with the 2nd Batt. AIF at Gallipoli. His rank at that time was Corporal.  He was wounded and evacuated to the UK, then rejoined his regiment in France before transferring to the AFC in November 1916.

 

Killed in an Aircraft Accident at Norwich, The Court of Inquiry concluded that the accident  " was entirely due to his error in not flattening out soon enough" and that the "machine and engine were in perfect order".

 

Thomas was a  member of NZ Army/TF for five years before returning to Samoa and then moving to Australia.

His funeral and burial in Ashtead were arranged by his brother, Lt F K Allen, Royal Navy and  a friend, Mr Mellish of Woodfiled House, Ashtead.
