Biographical Notes:

"CRICKETER’S DEATH MR. ASHLEY BURKE (Contributed) It is with very deep regret that cricketers throughout Taranaki have heard of the death of Ashley Goulding Burke. The service that he rendered to South Taranaki, not only as a player and representative, but also as an administrator was very great. His was not the loud heralded method but the quiet unobtrusive manner, the manner of a cricketer and a gentleman. We, his companions of the prewar Kaponga Cricket eleven, deeply feel the passing of one who was respected and admired by us all." [Opunake Times, 24 October 1947, Page 4]
