Biographical Notes:

“An impressive service was held on Sunday, 15th inst., in the Hanover Street Baptist Church in memory of the Rev. Ray Ambury, news of whose death at the front in France on August 30 came to hand last week. The deceased was a native of New Plymouth. He took his divinity course at Knox College, and won the esteem of the professors and students there. His only charge was at Wanganui East, where he spent some two years in faithful service, he then acted as locum tenens at the Presbyterian Church at Bulls, and while there was called up for military service. The Rev. R, H. Knowles-Kempton, who conducted the service, referred to his strength cf character, his ministerial faithfulness, and his loyalty, and expressed the warm sympathy of the congregation with his stricken parents, who had lost their three sons within a few years, and with his sister, the wife of the church secretary (Mr E. H. Drew).“ [Otago Witness, Issue 3367, 25 September 1918, Page 42]
