Biographical Notes:

"An inquest was held at Waitara on Tuesday, before Mr. W. F. Jenkins, J.P., concerning the circumstances of the death of a man named William Free, aged about 30, a farmer and returned soldier, who was found drowned in a dam at Brixton on the 2nd inst. A verdict was returned that deceased met his death by drowning himself while suffering from mental depression."
