Biographical Notes:

"A soldier from the Burnham camp lost his life in the Selwyn River this afternoon. The victim was: Allan Roy Harrington, single, a member of the Army Service Corps. The unit was exercising at Williams’ Ford. During a break in training the men were swimming in the river when Harrington collapsed. Every effort was made to save him, but the body was lost and not recovered until 7 p.m."
