"LIEUT. A. B. JACKSON. Second Lieutenant Alban Brittain Jackson, who fell in action in France on August 29, was the second son of Mrs. Jackson, of Jubilee Avenue, Devonport, and the late Mr. F. E. Jackson. Previous to enlistment he was Native Lands clerk in the office of Messrs. Earl and Kent, solicitors. He left New Zealand as a non-commissioned officer with the 6th Reinforcements, and served at Gallipoli until the evacuation. He was wounded later, at the battle of the Somme. After convalescence, he took a military course at Queen's College, Cambridge, gaining his commission. On January 4 of this year he returned to New Zealand on military duty. In March he proceeded with the 35th Reinforcement to Egypt, being later transferred to France. He was educated at Devonport District School, Auckland Grammar School, and University College. He leaves a widow, who is at present engaged in nursing in a military hospital, Birmingham. Lieutenant Jackson's elder brother fell in action on August 22.
