Biographical Notes:

“Private Athelstan Roy Burton, who has been wounded, is the eldest son of Mr A. F. Burton, headmaster of the Te Aroha District High School. He was educated at his father’s school, at Auckland Grammar School and at Auckland University College, and has passed the first section of the LL.B. examination. He was trained in the Junior Cadets, the Grammar School Senior Cadets and the Coastal Defence Infantry. Private Burton reached the age of 21 years during his training at Trentham. At the time of his enlistment he was employed in the office of Mr G. W.
