Biographical Notes:

"The death occurred recently of Mr Frank Jenyns. He had not enjoyed good health since returning from the war. Mr Jenyns was born in Geelong, Victoria, 49 years ago and came to New Zealand with his parents at the age of eight. He was schooled in Canterbury. On completing his education he joined the staff of the Railways Department, and became a loco driver.

He was stationed at Whangarei for some years prior to the war and on the outbreak of hostilities volunteered for service. His son Peter, was also overseas and was wounded in the desert. The late Mr Jenyns served in Greece, the Western Desert and, Italy, In the Greek campaign he was affected by a bomb-blast and this caused a deterioration in his health. He was an outstanding Rugby and cricket player in his youth.  He was an All Black trialist in 1922, when playing at Pneroa, and, on coming to Northland, was a Harding Shield representative for Northern Wairoa. He was a representative cricketer for Whangarei, his steady bowling and aggressive batting making him a valuable member of any side.

He was with the Combined Services club before the war.

Despite his poor health, he turned out for the Portland club, of which his son Peter is captain, this season. Deceased is survived by Mrs Jenyns. two sons, Peter and Basil, and one daughter, Maureen (Mrs Irwin Hawkins), of Whangarei."
