Biographical Notes:

SOLDIER'S DEATH. The inquest on Donald Christopher McLean, aged 34, a returned soldier, who died from a throat wound last Friday, was concluded this morning before Mr H. W. Bundle. S.M., sitting as Coroner. Sergeant Spencer conducted the proceedings for the police. Dr W. J. Porteous gave evidence that McLean had an extensive throat wound which could have been self-inficted.  Death must have been practtoally instantaneous from hemorrhage and shock. The Coroner returned a verdict ot death by suicide while in a state of extreme mental depression caused by ill health.
