Biographical Notes:

"Aircraftman Ernest Edward Halliwell. aged 31, received injuries from which he died in Gisborne Hospital three hours later, and his companion, Aircraftman A. Garrick, suffered facial injuries, in a collision between a car and a lorry at Te Puia. The vehicles collided on a bend. The deceased, who was a prominent churchman and Sunday school teacher, leaves a wife and two children."
