Biographical Notes:

Died aboard the British steamer SS Nellore  en-route from Bombay to Sydney with passengers when she was torpedoed, shelled and sunk by a Japanese submarine, about 400 miles east of the Chagos Archipeligo. (Indian Ocean). 79 crew and passengers were lost.
