Biographical Notes:

During a dogfighting exercise near his base at Ballyherbert, Northern Ireland, he dived from 6000 ft. in cloud and failed to pull out, exploding when he hit the sea. [For Your Tomorrow, Errol Martyn Vol 2 p 198]
