Biographical Notes:

George Ryan was the 2nd Pilot aboard an Avro York, on a scheduled freight flight from Iraq to the UK via Egypt. The aircraft failed to arrive at Almaza and was later found, having flown into a 2000ft hill, 50 miles SE of Cairo, well off course. The 6 crew are buried at Suez.
