Biographical Notes:

 "An inquest was held in Pukokohe by Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., concerning the death of a soldier. Sergeant Jack Hockenhull, aged 25, married, of Mount Albert, Auckland, who died in the Auckland Hospital on January 13, following an accident in the field. The coroner found that death was due to shock caused by severe burns through the accidental explosion of benzine while a cooker was being filled."
