Biographical Notes:

"DANNEVIRKE. Wednesday A member of the Scottish Regiment, James Birnie Watt, of Roslyn. Dunedin, who was injured during territorial manoeuvres at Dannevirke prior to Christmas through a despatch rider crashing into him when he was marching with his column, died in the Dannevirke Hospital to-day. He had been a patient since December 20. He was writing a letter to his mother just before his death."
