Biographical Notes:

Flying a Wellington on a test flight, following maintenance at Fayid, the plane was seen to fly into the ground, six miles from the base. Kenneth Holmes, the chief test pilot of the Maintenance Unit, died with three ground crew on board. Kenneth had done 35 ops with 40 Sqdn. 

He was the uncle of New Zealand broadcaster, Sir Paul Holmes.
