MILITARY FUNERAL.

LATE PRIVATE OWEN ROGERS. Private Owen Rogers, who died at the Coronation Hospital, Cashmere Hills, on Wednesday, saw service in the Boer War. He was in South Africa when the war broke out, and joined an Imperial regiment and served throughout the campaign. When the present war broke out he resided at Reefton, and joined the Fourth Reinforcement. He was wounded in the lungs at Gallipoli, and returned to New Zealand on October 30, 1915, and was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital the following day. His next of kin is his brother, Mr William Rogers, of Myrthyr Tydvil, South Wales. On hearing of the soldier's death and in the absence of near relatives from Christchurch, the C.D.C. approached District Headquarters, which ordered a military funeral. This took place yesterday. The firing party were members of the Permanent Artillery at Lyttelton. Members of the Returned Soldiers' Association attended, and were the bearers. The soldier's comrades at the Sanatorium were present. The "Last Post" was sounded by Trumpeter Moore, of the New Zealand Field Artillery, who has recentlv returned from the front. The C.D.C. was represented by members of its office staff and Hospital Committee. Amongst the wreaths was one from the C.D.C.
