Biographical Notes:

Patrick Farren was the 2nd pilot on a Wellington taking part in a raid on the battle area. On take-off, the plane lost height as the undercarriage was retracted, causing the propellors to strike the ground. The aircraft crashed, it's bomb load expolding.
