Biographical Notes:

"TUBMAN.—On October 12, killed while in action "Somewhere in France," Reynold William (26th Reinforcements), beloved youngest son of Jane Tubman, St. Kilda, and of the late Edward Tubman, Roxburgh, and brother of Matthew A. Tubman, Lovell's Flat, and George Tubman, Hilderthorpe; aged 27 years. He gave his life for King and country" [Otago Witness, Issue 3321, 7 November 1917, Page 40]

 

"Mrs Edward Tubman, of St. Kilda, Dunedin, has received word that her youngest son (Private R. W. Tubman) was killed in action in France on October 12. He was a member of the Twenty-sixth Reinforcements, and was 27 years of age at the time of his death. Prior to enlisting he was engaged in farming with his brother at Lovell's Flat. Deceased was educated at Dumbarton and Lawrence. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew him." [Otago Daily Times, Issue 17159, 12 November 1917, Page 6]
