Biographical Notes:

“William Frederick Doherty, who fell into a hot spring at Ohineniutu on the evening of July 6, died in the hospital yesterday evening. He was very extensively scalded, but a complete recovery was expected. The shock to his system was too severe, however, and a week ago he began to fail, his heart becoming affected. Mr. Doherty was a returned soldier, aged 45 years. He leaves a widow.”
