Biographical Notes:

“Rifleman Con Gordon Hutton, who is reported to have died from wounds on August 30, was the son of Helen Bryden Douglas and the late Mr David Con Hutton, art master, Dunedin. He received his education at the Arthur Street School and Boys' High School. Having passed civil service and matriculated, he entered the services of the National Insurance Company, and remained there until he enlisted in the Seventeenth Reinforcements. He left New Zealand as a quartermaster-sergeant in the Twenty-fourth Reinforcements. His brother, Second Lieutenant Lorne de H. Hutton, was killed by machine-gun bullets on March 23, and was buried near Biefvillers.” [Otago Witness, Issue 3367, 25 September 1918, Page 42]
