Biographical Notes:

He served as a  Quarter Master Sgt with the 2nd Contingent and as a Lietenant with the 10th Contingent in South  Africa.

“The death occurred at the Palmerston North Hospital on Monday of another returned soldier in the person of Corporal M. J. Molloumby, who has been an inmate of the institution for some time past, following sickness contracted on active service. Deceased saw two years service in the South African war, where he gained commissioned rank. Deceased was a very keen member of the Legion of Frontiersmen. He volunteered for service in the present war and left the Dominion. with the 11th reinforcements as a private. Corporal Molloumby was a man of high ideals, and was extremely popular with all ranks, and his death at the age of 42 years is to be regretted. He was a son of the late Mr Tom Molloumby, of the West Coast, and his only relative in New Zealand is Miss N. Molloumby, of Palmerston, to whom sympathy will be extended. “
