Biographical Notes:

"News has bean received of the death at the Dardanelles of Private Andrew W. Woodside, of Ashburton. Private Woodside. whose father (Mr R. Woodside) resides on Wakanui Road, was well known and very popular in Ashburton. He joined the main body of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces, and was in the thick of the fighting at the Dardanelles right up to the time of his death. Prior to his departure from New Zealand, Private Woodside was employed by Mr Alfred Bray, of Ashburton. He had only been in the Dominion for three and a half years, having emigrated from Newmilns, Ayrshire, Scotland." [Ashburton Guardian, Volume XXXV, Issue 8229, 28 August 1915, Page 5]
