Biographical Notes:

"In the excitement of returning to his home at Bay View, Napier, on leave, Mr. John Ludwig Bruns, aged 45, married, a patient of Pukeora sanatorium, had left his ration book in his quarters. Just prior to his departure he remembered it and ran hack to his room, collected the book and ran back towards the waiting taxi. When within four yards of the vehicle he collapsed and died."
