Biographical Notes:

"When an aircraft of the Royal New Zealand Air Force was reported overdue on a flight from the South Island yesterday morning a search was immediately made and wreckage located on Kapiti Island. A launch with medical officers aboard was immediately dispatched, but on arrival it was found that the two occupants had lost their lives when the aircraft crashed. The personnel concerned were:— Pilot Officer Harold Nevill Longley. (Father. Mr A. H. Longley, People’s Palace, Wellington), formerly of Invercargill. Flight Sergeant Ivan Frederick Cummins (Father, Mr F. W. Cummins, Brown’s road, Manurewa Auckland). "
