Biographical Notes:

In a letter (copy in William James Thurlow's service record) dated 17 August 1919, Major N W Thoms wrote that William Thurlow and Alex. Herbert Graham, both of the Wellington Battalion, were "Buried in Foreshore 80 Q.3." and "They were probably either stretcher bearers or wounded on stretchers coming in from Walker's Ridge, and Killed by Machine Gun or Shrapnel Fire".
