Aircraft had an in flight fire in engine nacelle at top of descent to base on a SATS run. Attempted a water emergency landing but aircraft crashed into the sea killing all aboard. Cause of accident was believed to be a known defect with Fokker 22s. Fuel could spill into the nacelle where it would lie until the aircraft nosed over for descent where upon the spilled fuel ran forward into the engine area with subsequent fire. This aircraft had not received the corrective modification for this problem. This is a summary of the post crash investigation. The aircraft was refuelled prior to return from Scottish off-shore islands.
