Sergeant Henry Wilson Smith was born in Featherston 9th April 1886. Father was Policeman Frederick Charles Smith. Schooled at Featherston, then Hastings then Carterton, as father was transferred at times.. His mother died early and is buried at Featherston. Father remarried to her sister to help bring up the family. Father came from Donegal. Henry sadly died in action 30th May 1915, no known grave. Native of Featherston.
