Biographical Notes:

“Mrs E. C. Ganderton, of Regent Street, Palmerston North, has been officially notified by the Air Ministry that her son, Pilot-Officer John R. P. Ganderton, is reported missing as a result of air operations on June 2. Pilot-Officer Ganderton, who is 27 years of age, was born in Palmerston North. He was educated at the Hokowhitu School and the Boys' High School, and subsequently learned to fly at Milson. He underwent Air Force training in Canada and later proceeded to England, arriving there in November. 1940.” [Manawatu Standard, Volume LXII, Issue 158, 5 June 1942, Page 4]
